Exposing students to the historical impact of artificial intelligence on cultural production and artistic expression, the dynamic sessions consider the integration of physical and digital innovations on the presentation and transaction of cultural artefacts. The course provides a critical analysis of Web3 ecologies, including the impact of digital and blockchain technologies on the social hierarchies and accessibility of the international cultural sector. Emerging trends in digital content distribution will be considered together with the potential impact on global cultural production and the international art market.
Through case studies such as Art Blocks, Online Viewing Rooms, Zora, and Spatial.io, the course will give participants an insight into the latest developments and trends. Guest speakers from the expanded technology field will complement the discussions. The course will include a short project for students to apply their newfound knowledge.
