Instructed by the founder of a high-profile art recruitment agency, the course provides a comprehensive introduction to the diverse career opportunities available within the dynamic realm of fine arts by analyzing current market trends. Through exploration, discussion, and practical insights such as resume-building and interview tips, students will gain an understanding of the multifaceted landscape of the art industry, its various sectors, and the skills required to succeed in these fields.
This short program will cover:
Survey of Fine Art Professions: Explore the breadth of professions within the fine art world, including gallerists, curators, art historians, auctioneers, art dealers, art restorers’, art administrators and professional support roles, including marketing and logistics, within the sector.
Industry Insight and Trends: Analyse current trends, market dynamics, and the evolving landscape of the art world. Understand the impact of technology, globalization, and social changes on the art industry.
Professional Development Skills: Course participants will receive a crash course on resume and cover letter writing, job interview tips, networking, managing social media and a review of how and where to look for roles in the art world.
Guest Speakers and Industry Insights: Guest speakers from different sections of the art industry will share their own professional journey and offer tips and advice based on their experience navigating this complex ecosystem.
The course concludes with a short project for students to apply their newfound knowledge.

Julia Henderson has spent 20 years in senior positions within large recruitment and staffing businesses, including as the CEO of Recruitment Solutions Group. She founded DRAW Recruitment, a market-leading recruitment agency specialising in arts jobs and sourcing talent for the fine art, antiques, auction and luxury markets sector in 2016, together with Nina Langford. They were quickly able to build up a loyal client base and today have an expansive network all over the international art world.

This live online course is delivered with live-streamed lectures featuring group discussion and Q&A. All live sessions are also recorded and available on the course platform typically within 24-48 hours for participants unable to attend the posted times. The course will include a final project with personalized feedback from the course instructor. All participants will have access to the recordings for an additional 30 days after the final course lecture.
