Housing Resources

A few notes on living in New York City:

In some cases, it is possible to find fully furnished apartments or rooms that can include linens, kitchenware, etc. However, most apartments will come unfurnished.

Some apartments will include utilities (heat, cooking gas, electric, phone, TV, internet) and some will not include utilities. If these items are not included in the monthly rent, you will have to set up these services with local companies and pay for them, in addition to your apartment rent, every month.

As with most large cities rent prices are extremely variable depending on the area and amenities.

When searching for accommodation we recommend students consult housing guides, neighborhood guides or rental agencies so that you find a space that fits your needs.

Although we do not provide off-campus housing or legal advice, we have compiled a list of resources for you to consider as you embark on your housing search. Links included in this section are not endorsed or recommended by Sotheby’s Institute of Art.
