Sotheby’s Institute of Art – NY (SIA-NY) Emergency Procedures
When a situation arises that has the potential to place the SIA-NY community at risk, the Institute will communicate with students, faculty, and staff via email and the Institute’s learning management system. In the case of an imminent threat, SIA-NY uses an emergency alert system that sends instantaneous text messages to mobile devices. Examples of when the system might be activated include; incidents involving the police or fire departments that would require building evacuation, a critical weather emergency, or in the event a situation occurs while traveling during field study.
Annual Security Report
In compliance with the Student Right-to-Know and the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, SIA – NY’s Annual Security Report provides information about institutional policies concerning campus conduct, crime prevention, reporting of crimes and other security and safety information. Crime statistics for the previous three years concerning reported crimes are also included. Individuals may gain access to this information from the Student Handbook.

Student Bill of Rights
This Student Bill of Rights was established by New York State Education Law Article 129-B, on October 7, 2015. For more information about preventing and addressing sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence, and stalking at SIA-NY, please see the SIA-NY Sexual Misconduct Policy. This policy includes information about filing a report, seeking a response, options for confidential disclosure and outside resources for survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence.

Sexual misconduct is not tolerated in SIA-NY’s education programs or activities. SIA-NY strictly prohibits sexual harassment and sexual violence, including the offenses of sexual assault, sexual coercion, sexual exploitation, dating violence, domestic violence, and stalking. Sexual misconduct can occur between strangers, acquaintances, or people who know each other well, including those who are involved in an intimate or sexual relationship, and can be committed by anyone regardless of sex, gender, or gender identity.
SIA-NY adopts the standard of Affirmative Consent to sexual activity set forth in the NY Law.
Questions regarding Title IX, the Clery Act, the Campus SaVE Act and the NY Law may be referred to SIA-NY’s Title IX Coordinator or to the U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights.

Campus Climate Survey
The health, safety, and well-being of all members of the SIA-NY community are the school’s primary concerns. In furtherance of SIA-NY’s mission and in accordance with Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 (“Title IX”), the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (the “Clery Act”), as amended by the Violence Against Women Act/Campus Sexual Violence Act (“Campus SaVE Act”), and Article 129-B of the New York Education Law (“NY Law”). Among the requirements for Article 129-B of the New York Education Law is that every institution conduct campus climate surveys to ascertain general awareness, experience and knowledge of sexual misconduct, and policies and procedures surrounding these issues. Every spring semester, SIA-NY will conduct a Campus Climate Survey for all students and will post the results on wwwhttps://sothebysinstitute.com. Information obtained from the results will be used to support and strengthen campus resources and education campaigns to educate the SIA-NY community about domestic violence, dating violence, stalking and sexual assault. Survey Content is developed and administered by EverFi (Campus Answers).
