With the global transition to online business during the COVID-19 pandemic, and continued innovations in fields such as AI, blockchain, and the metaverse, art businesses and museums alike are searching for ways to innovate and leverage these technologies to drive sales and engagement. This course will act as a practical introduction to these technologies, how key art world players are using them successfully, and how they are shaping new ways to create, curate and engage with art. Participants will gain insight into sector-specific digital tools such as metaverse experiences, social media for web3, NFT marketplaces, AI platforms, and more.

Day 1: Learn about the evolution of the digital space, its impact on the art world and how creative industry has begun to experiment and explore emerging technologies.
Day 2: Visit pioneering art spaces to see how digital technology is transforming the way art is created and collected, then hear first hand from an artist at the forefront of AI.
Course participants take away in-depth and valuable insight into the current and future art world. Those who successfully complete their course will receive a certificate of completion from Sotheby’s Institute of Art.
