Finding a job in this world becomes a job within itself, and this is even more relevant when it comes to the art industry. This course will set participants on the path to success in deciding if an art world career is right for them and will demonstrate how to take securing a job in this world to the next level. Instructed by the founder of a high-profile art recruitment agency, this course navigates the path of finding a career in the art world from start to finish. Course participants will receive a crash course on resume and cover letter writing, job interview tips, and networking importance—the very first things to focus on in order to achieve your dream role. This short program will also provide an overview of careers in all sectors of the art industry including the various roles within a commercial art gallery—with a focus on those that have become in demand since the start of the pandemic; the most important functions within an international auction house; working as a curator, a collection manager and roles in the public sector. A session on roles in the art and technology field will include an examination of the importance of the blockchain and NFT’s and any of the auxiliary businesses that cater to the art world such as art lawyers, shipping companies, storage facilities, and fabricators will close out the course. Guest speakers from the different areas of the art industry will share their professional journey and offer tips and advice based on their experience navigating this complex ecosystem. The course concludes with a short project for students to apply their newfound knowledge.
