Arts and Culture Conversations in Downtown LA

The era of ‘Big Philanthropy’ is upon us. Private wealth in the United States has grown to unprecedented levels, and much of that wealth has been pledged to philanthropic ends in general and the arts in particular. Match that with the $30 trillion which the Baby Boom Generation will pass on to its heirs over the next 30-40 years and we have an economic force poised to radically transform the ecology and operations of the arts for decades to come. Joining this discussion will be:

  • Katherine DeShaw Deputy Director, Advancement and External Relations, Academy Museum of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences
  • Alison Edelstein Senior Director of Major Gifts, LACMA
  • Wendy Garen President & Chief Executive Officer, The Ralph M. Parsons Foundation

This event is part of the Sotheby’s Institute of Art’s Creative Industries Colloquium, presented in partnership with Claremont Graduate University. This conversation series brings you the voices that matter to arts and culture in LA today. For seven Thursdays, cultural luminaries and leaders will join us in downtown LA to address the challenges and opportunities facing their organizations and fields.

Join us and learn more about Sotheby’s Institute’s MA programs in Art Business and Arts Management and meet the people who are shaping LA’s cultural landscape now. Space is limited, so please RSVP.
