Meet Dr Bernard Vere, Program Director and Senior Lecturer in Modern Art, and get an up-close experience of our Master’s program in Fine and Decorative Art and Design as taught in our London campus. This session will include a lecture by Dr Vere on modern art followed by a study visit to Tate Britain. Get a taste of first-hand observation necessary to develop skills to establish (and distinguish between) materials and techniques, modes of production and style of a range of works. Immerse yourself in the wider historical, social, economic and cultural factors which influenced the production of the art works you will see during the visit.
Bernard Vere specializes in art from the late-19th to mid-20th century. He was awarded his PhD in 2006 from the London Consortium (Tate, ICA, Birkbeck College and Architectural Association). He is the author of Sport and modernism in the Visual Arts, c. 1909–1939 and a number of essays on modern British art Dr Vere is an elected member of the International Association of Art Critics (AICA) has served on the Executive Steering Committee of the British Association of Modernist Studies.
