MA in Fine and Decorative Art and Design, London - Taster Session
Meet Dr Lis Darby and get an up-close experience of our Master’s program in Fine and Decorative Art and Design as taught in our London campus. This session will include a lecture by Dr Lis Darby and a study visit to a gallery or museum exhibition in London.

Experience what it’s like to be a student on our MA in Fine and Decorative Art and Design through an interactive session with Dr Lis Darby, senior lecturer at Sotheby’s Institute of Art London campus.

Join Dr Darby for a lecture on arts and crafts to be delivered at the Institute, followed by a study visit to either a gallery or museum exhibition with a focus on Decorative Art and Design. Get a taste of first-hand observation necessary to develop skills to establish (and distinguish between) materials and techniques, modes of production and style of a range of works. Immerse yourself in the wider historical, social, economic and cultural factors which influenced the production of the art works you will see during the visit.

Dr Darby holds a doctorate and an MA from the Courtauld Institute of Art where she focused on Neoclassicism in France and 19th century public sculpture. Her research and specialist areas are the history of 19th and 20th century and contemporary decorative art and design, and late 18th to early 20th century sculpture.
