Event InformationMONDAY, 26 NOVEMBER 2018 FROM 14:00PM TO 17:00PM
Sotheby's Institute of Art - LONDON, 30 BEDFORD SQUARE, WC1
Experience what it’s like to be a student in our MA in Contemporary Art through an interactive session with Dr Pierre Saurisse, Senior Lecturer at Sotheby’s Institute of Art London campus.
Join Dr Saurisse for a lecture to be delivered at the Institute, followed by a study visit to a contemporary art gallery in London. Get a taste of what you will learn during the MA programme, develop skills of observation and description and explore how themes are connected with artistic contexts and the networks in which art is created, bought, collected and exhibited.
Pierre Saurisse taught contemporary art at the Universities of Aix-Marseilles and Rennes. His book on chance in European and American art of the 1960s, La Mécanique de l'imprévisible, was published in 2007. Since he wrote a chapter in a book on performance in 2010, his research has focused on this field. Saurisse has reviewed exhibitions and books for Beaux-Arts Magazine, Critique d'Art, and Parachute, and has had articles published in Territoires Contemporains (2012), Visual Culture in Britain (2013), and Sculptures (2014). He has also written on censorship and scandals in contemporary art in L’Art des années 2000 (2012). A more recent piece on Rauschenberg and the Art of Recycling (2018) may be found here.
Information sessions have limited space so prior booking is absolutely essential. Seats will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
