Experience what it feels like to be a student in our new MA in Art Logistics through an interactive session with Dr Vera Hoelscher, faculty member at Sotheby’s Institute of Art-London. The session will include a lecture followed by a study visit to an art warehouse or a conservation workshop to get a taste of what you will learn during this MA programme.
The care, display and movement of art objects are multi-million dollar issues requiring high levels of thought and expertise. Students on this programme explore operational approaches towards art objects and the logistical issues related to moving art from one location to another. By studying Art Logistics you will become familiar with the power of positive disruption through technology and the growing use of big data and digital applications in art business practices.
Dr. Vera Hoelscher is Unit Leader for Art Business, Finance and Management, Art World Logistics and Operations, and Strategic Management at Sotheby's Institute of Art. She holds a BA in Film Studies and Philosophy and an MA and PhD in Marketing from Royal Holloway, University of London. Her research explores the qualitative differences between the shared physical and digital spaces of ethical consumption communities. Dr Hoelscher is particularly interested in the impact that the digital dissemination of works has on the art world.
