Arts and Culture Conversations in Downtown LA

How are arts and culture makers reinventing the public sphere in Los Angeles at a time of rising inequality and privatization? What roles can arts play to connect people across places and communities? We will hear from the following seasoned arts leaders, who are investing in public culture and increasing creative opportunities for broader publics through art making, public programming, and policy:

  • Julia Diamond Interim Director, Grand Park
  • Tamica Washington-Miller Associate Director, Lula Washington Dance Theater
  • Letitia Fernandez-Ivans Creative Services Manager, Metro LA
  • Samuel Liu Deputy Chief of Staff, Senator Ben Allen’s Office, CA Joint Committee on the Arts

This event is part of the Sotheby’s Institute of Art’s Creative Industries Colloquium, presented in partnership with Claremont Graduate University. This conversation series brings you the voices that matter to arts and culture in LA today. For seven Thursdays, cultural luminaries and leaders will join us in downtown LA to address the challenges and opportunities facing their organizations and fields.

Join us and learn more about Sotheby’s Institute’s MA programs in Art Business and Arts Management and meet the people who are shaping LA’s cultural landscape now. Space is limited, so please RSVP.
