Sotheby's Institute of Art London has the pleasure of presenting a talk by British artist Sonia Boyce.
Sonia Boyce emerged in the eighties as a major new voice in the British art world with a series of two-dimensional works addressing the experiences of young Afro-Caribbean men and women in a rapidly changing but still deeply divided society. From the nineties, she has worked collaboratively with musicians, singers, dancers and others, bringing disparate genres—high and low, traditional and experimental, native and diasporic—into dialogue in improvisatory works that reflect in often startling ways on cultural difference as it is understood today—and might be understood tomorrow. Her work is in many large private and institutional collections, she has featured in the Venice Biennale and in many shows in major public galleries around the world.
