Summer Study is aimed at students, career changers and anyone with an interest in the subjects of the courses. Three-day, one-week and two-week courses are open to all.
The five-week English for the Art World course is intended for those with an IELTS score below 6 who are seeking to improve their English language skills in an art world context.
Applicants for four-week, validated courses should have completed secondary education, and further study or relevant work experience is desirable. Many of our Semester and MA students take these courses to experience Sotheby’s Institute of Art before making the commitment to longer courses.
Applicants for four-week courses whose first language is not English are required to demonstrate English language competency by evidence of having completed a course of full time study in English for a minimum of one year, or by certification to IELTS level 6.0 or equivalent. Additionally, the Institute reserves the right to interview applicants.
Please note that a limited number of places on each four-week course are reserved for auditors, for whom these requirements do not apply. Auditors do not undertake the assignments associated with their chosen course and do not receive a transcript from The University of Manchester (see below).
The above requirements do not apply to three-day, one-week or two-week courses.
