Employment within the global arts sector is often intellectually stimulating, highly rewarding, and deeply fulfilling. For all the same reasons, it is also fiercely competitive. This course uncovers the range of career choices on offer, and aims to give candidates for the creative industries an edge through insider sector knowledge and improved self-knowledge gained through a series of workshops and exercises. In addition to lectures and behind-the-scenes visits, the course includes interviews and networking opportunities with a range of leading arts professionals from the public and commercial sector, including auctioneers, gallerists, curators and art lawyers. Individual and small-group workshops will look in detail at candidates’ CVs, interview skills, and other practical skills, and students will have the chance to develop and receive feedback on their personal career goals. The course will ideally suit undergraduates or recent graduates, and career changers looking to move into the art world.
