Overview

The contemporary art world is constantly reinventing itself. This six-week survey course provides a comprehensive overview of contemporary art practice from the 1960s to the present day, focusing on key modes of expression. Examining the essential social and political context of contemporary art, as well as the theories behind it, participants will equip themselves to better interpret and understand its vocabularies, materials and subjects.

    Evening Course:  Every Tuesday evening; reception: 6-6:30pm; lecture: 6:30-7:45pm
    Date: January 22 – March 5, 2019 (term break February 19)
    Venue: The course will take place at Sotheby’s Institute of Art, 30 Bedford Square, London, WC1B 3EE.
