Designed to complement Introduction to Decorative Arts and Design: From Baroque to Art Deco, but also available to take as a ‘stand-alone’ course, this unique five-day programme introduces participants to the extraordinary breadth and beauty of some of most important and influential houses in southern England. Classroom-based lectures foreground the properties in the social and cultural landscape of their time; guided visits are led by experts in the field. Covering Restoration, Georgian, Regency, Victorian and early twentieth century architecture and interiors, the course includes trips to historic houses and day excursions to Brighton Pavilion and Standen.
