Timed to coincide with Frieze, this four-day course immerses participants in the contemporary art scene in London today. It provides a background to art and artistic practice since the 1960s, with a particular emphasis on the exciting developments of the last decade. Designed for anyone interested in embracing London’s contemporary art scene during a particularly vibrant week, classroom-based lectures are complimented by visits to Sotheby’s, commercial galleries, artists’ studios and Frieze.

Suitable for collectors and investors as well as art enthusiasts looking to deepen their understanding and appreciation of contemporary art practice in London today. Minimum age 18.

This course includes:

  • Faculty-led lectures on contemporary art history, practice and the market;
  • A faculty-led conversation with a contemporary art collector;
  • A faculty-led conversation with a London-based contemporary artist;
  • Expert-led visits to Tate Modern, Sotheby’s, leading commercial galleries, artists’ studio spaces, a contemporary art pop-up and Frieze;
  • Learning in the Institute's historic Georgian townhouse campus at the heart of Bloomsbury;
  • Networking opportunities with faculty and fellow participants;
  • Certificate of participation on completion of the course.
