As part of Sotheby’s Institute of Art’s on-going series of Art Law courses, this offering provides an understanding of the key legal issues relating to the trade in and ownership of fine art objects. It is designed for non-lawyers either working in the art world or wishing to do so, as well as qualified lawyers looking to enhance their understanding of art law in particular. A second course with a different focus will be offered in May 2020; please monitor our website for further announcements. Each course is designed to be independent of the other and both can be taken as stand-alones.

Suitable for art world professionals and lawyers from other specialist areas, as well as those looking to develop their understanding of key legal issues in the art market today. Minimum age 18.

This course includes:

  • Faculty-led lectures with time for questions and discussion;

  • Networking reception with faculty and fellow participants;

  • Tea and coffee provided upon arrival;

  • Welcome lunch on the first day of the course;

  • Learning in the Institute's Georgian townhouse campus at the heart of Bloomsbury;

  • Certificate of participation on completion of the course
