This course explores avant-garde developments in design and the decorative arts from Art Nouveau to Post Modernism and the pluralism of the present day. Objects are studied in the context of architecture and interiors. The interaction between design and the fine arts is highlighted. Lectures are enriched by visits to museums and galleries. The market for twentieth century and contemporary design is explored through contact with auction houses.
