Sotheby's Institute of Art - Singapore offers a number of short courses throughout the year. These Short Courses provide unparalleled opportunities for participants to gain practical skills, knowledge and insight into the international art world, and are specifically focused for those who have an active interest in art but limited time. Short Courses are led by faculty from Sotheby’s Institute of Art and international experts and practitioners in the field. Short Courses in Art BusinessA selection of intensive courses, lasting 5 days, and which focus on various aspects of art business. Participants can receive 15 credits on completion of each course which count towards the MA Art Business. Introduction to Contemporary Art: 28 – 29 September, 2010 and 29 – 30 November, , 2010 Art Collection Strategies for Investment: 19 – 20 October, 2010 and 17 – 18 January, , 2010 Introduction to History of Western Paintings: 25 – 26 October, 2010 Art Valuation and Investment: 24 – 25 November, 2010 and 1 – 2 March, 2011 Modernism: An Introduction: 7 – 10 February, 2011 Course dates are subject to change. The FacultyThe faculty maintains strong links with the international art and business worlds, as demonstrated by the network of industry professionals who visit the Institute as guest speakers to share their insights and experience. In addition to the many commercial art events which take place in Singapore throughout the year which students are encouraged to attend as complimentary to the course, visits are also arranged to dealers, galleries and museum in Singapore.
