Dates: 10-14 November 2008 Duration: 5 Days, 9.00am - 6.00pm A review of the players of the art market: dealers/brokers, collectors (speculators), artists, auctioneers, financial institutions; an examination of the financial mechanisms underpinning the art economy; an exploration of the inter-relationship between the state-funded cultural sector and the commercial gallery world; the implication of tax as a constraint on the art market; a comprehensive review of the history, philosophy and guiding principles of the contemporary art market, (including notions of human selfishness, and the Christian church’s value system).
