Short Course: Pre-sessional English Language Course

Dates: 31 May – 25 June, 2010; Monday – Friday, 10am – 5pm

This 4-week intensive course is primarily designed to prepare you for any of the Sotheby's Institute of Art Masters Programmes, but it is also open to anyone wishing to improve their written and oral communication skills within an arts context. The final week of the course will include an IELTS (http://www.ielts.org) test.

The course will focus on all aspects of your written and oral communication and presentation skills as well as your editing and grammar skills. The course will also concentrate on developing your subject specific vocabulary in preparation for a postgraduate education in the arts.

Tuition Fee
The Tuition fee is inclusive of the following:
Full tuition and course materials
IELTS registration and examination fee
Introduction to Singapore weekend – visits to local attractions
Visits to museums and galleries
Airport transfers
Local Transport Card, initial value $10
(Please note that meals and local transport is not included)

This option is recommended for students who already live in Singapore, or who are planning to arrange their own accommodation.

Tuition Fee with shared Student Accommodation
The shared student accommodation package is inclusive of the tuition fee as well as accommodation in a twin shared apartment style facility at a student apartment area. This package is recommended for international students who are coming to Singapore specifically for this course. All arrangements will be taken care of by the Institute and will include the following:

The tuition fee, plus
Fully air-conditioned twin shared accommodation
Daily Cleaned Rooms
Kitchen and Pantry Facilities
Study Area Facilities
Laundry facilities (extra cost)
24 hr security

Upgraded Hotel Accommodation Package
The upgraded hotel accommodation package is inclusive of all tuition fees and comfortable private accommodation throughout the stay. This will be a standard single room in a Value hotel (http://www.valuehotel.com.sg/) located reasonably close to the Institute.

This package is recommended for international students who are coming to Singapore specifically for this course, but would prefer to stay in single accommodation. All arrangements will be taken care of by the Institute and will include the following:

The tuition fee, plus
30 night continuous stay
Private ensuite room
Hotel facilities may vary and should be checked prior to booking

Assessment and Credits
A certificate of attendance will be given to all participants and the course will include an examination for the IELTS.
