Asia Pacific Bursaries - Frequently Asked Questions



1. Is the Bursary available for the two-year option?
No, it is only available for the one-year programme.

2. What if I transfer from one-year programme onto the two-year programme?
In this case, total amount of the bursary award will need to be repaid to the Institute.

3. Will the bursary be available for September intake?
The bursary is currently for the April intake and we do not know if it will be extended to September.

4. I hold dual citizenships, does that count?
As long as you hold a passport or proof of citizenship of one of the listed countries, you are eligible to apply.

5. What is the deadline for application?
The deadline for application is Friday, 19 February 2010.

6. When will I be informed if my application is successful?
Confirmation of your application will be on or before 1 March 2010.

7. When does the April intake start?
The April intake is planned to start on 5 April 2010.

8. If I am successful, how much do I have to pay and what are the instalments?
The exact numbers are not confirmed, but fees will be approximately as follows:
  • Deposit S$1500, due on acceptance
  • First instalment S$19,300 plus GST, due on enrolment for Semester 1. (This includes a compulsory S$5,500 travel cost)
  • Second instalment S$13,800 plus GST, due before Semester 2
  • Third instalment S$8,300 plus GST, due before Semester 3
  • Total Tuition Fees = S$ 37,400 plus GST
  • Total Travel Fees = S$ 5,500 plus GST
9. What is the S$5,500 Travel Fees for?
As part of the programme, there will be two individual weeks of field study travel. Previously, field study trips have included Korea, China, India and Hong Kong. These trips are an integral part of the programme and are therefore compulsory. There will be an additional field study trip that will be optional. It is likely that this optional trip will be to a Southeast Asian country, and will be charged at cost.

10. How do I find out more information about the Programme?

11. Why is the course fee being discounted? Will quality of the course be reduced?
No, the course continues to improve and expand in the quality of the programme. Fees can be reduced as extra funds have been allocated to benefit more Asian-Pacific students who are interested in the programme.
