This course reviews the players of the art market: from dealers to collectors, artists, auctioneers and financial institutions. The course examines the financial mechanisms underpinning the art economy and look at the inter-relationship between the state-funded cultural sector and the commercial gallery world. A comprehensive review of the history, philosophy and guiding principles of the contemporary art market is covered.
