We are proud to introduce our “Alumni Updates” for April, 2015. Thank you to all that contributed. We will be asking for updates quarterly regarding new professional positions and promotions, new businesses launched, new articles and books published and other significant personal events that happened within the last 12 months*.

Rosie Allan

Rosie is a Consultant at Sophie Macpherson Ltd. in London. She handles junior to mid-level recruitment in London and New York. Established in 2002, Sophie Macpherson Ltd. is a search firm specialising in sourcing the best talent for a wide variety of arts businesses and cultural organisations worldwide.

Sara Berner Bengtsson

Since finishing her dissertation, Sara has been working at Christie's in London, where she currently has the position of Client Services Representative. She has previously worked at White Cube in London, written interior design features for Barnebys and an artist analysis report for ArtTactic.

Jennifer Carty

Jennifer recently started a new position as the Curatorial Assistant to the Associate Director of Exhibitions, Collections, and Curatorial Affairs at the Cantor Arts Center at Stanford University.

Caroline Caviezel

Caroline recently received a promotion to Deputy Director at Sotheby’s working as a Valuation Manager.

Michelle (Johnson) Conliffe

Michelle is an art appraiser and consultant in Columbus, Ohio. Her firm, Michelle Conliffe Appraisal Services, provides insurance and estate appraisals of paintings, furniture, silver, porcelain, pottery, and antiques in Ohio and throughout the Midwest.

Chrissy Crawford

ArtStar, founded by Chrissy, is excited to start working with Domino Magazine and 1stDibs to launch exclusive capsule collections of limited editions prints. She also launched a trade program for interior designers. Please email sales@artstar.com if you would like more information.

Laura Dameme

Laura is currently an Appraisal and Advisory Associate at Winston Art Group, New York, where she produces appraisals and assists clients in buying and selling works of art. She also has a successful Instagram account, thevernissage. More than 1,000 people follow her daily art pictures celebrating artists' birthdays (she created the hashtag #artistbirthday), highlighting emerging artists, announcing upcoming lots at auction, and other art world interests.

Tracie Davis

Tracie is a Photo Editor at www.zola.com, an e-commerce startup for editorial photography and graphic design within the wedding industry.

Marta S. de Movellan

Marta has moved back to New York from London and is currently Associate Director of Communications at Lehmann Maupin gallery.

Janet Jacoby Floyer

Janet worked at Christie’s King Street, London in the Modern British Picture department, from 1993-1996. She currently lives with her husband James and two daughters near Malaga, Spain and is studying with the Open University.

Anna Bierlein Handy

Since September 2014, Anna has been Business Intelligence Manager in Impressionist & Modern Art at Christie’s. She has the good fortune of seeing other alums in the halls, including Edwina Stitt, Minna Hanninen and--when she is in New York from India--Sonal Singh.

Karen Hauser

Karen announced the formation of EdelHaus: modern art salon in September, 2014. Inspired by the enlightened women's salons of turn-of-the century Europe, EdelHaus leads its members on an enriching journey into the modern and contemporary art scene.

Mackie is currently working in Marketing and Communications at Dominique Levy Gallery.

Alexandra Hofmann

Lexi has been working at Sotheby’s, where she started as a floater and has been permanent in the Impressionist and Modern department for the last two years. Specifically, she works with the Evening sale team and in private sales. Additionally, her thesis from the Sotheby’s Institute about the evolution of Contemporary art dealers and the displacement of art centers specific to New York City was cited in a book entitled Art on the Block by Ann Fensterstock which was published in September 2013.

Alejandro Jassan

Alejandro currently works in the marketing and client services department at Alexander Gray Associates, and is the co-founder of COED Contemporáneo, a curatorial initiative created to foster the cultural exchange between Latin America and United States. An independent critic since 2012, his reviews, essays, profiles, and interviews have appeared regularly in Elle Mexico, Painting is Dead, and The Wild magazine.

Alison Latimer

Alison is currently COO of marketing software start-up, Conversion Logic, based in Los Angeles and mother to two beautiful daughters, Mara (5) and Piper (7).

Ying Lawrence

Ying is the co-founder of Babaobox, a bespoke gift service curated by tastemakers. Babaobox collaborates with contemporary artists and designers to make limited edition box sets. She is also the publisher and editor of Babaobook, a publication that documents the stories behind the making of each objet d'art.

Megan Leckie

Megan is currently Gallery Director of Pearl Lam Galleries Shanghai, overseeing further gallery operations in Singapore and Hong Kong. Pearl Lam Galleries is a driving force within Asia's contemporary art scene. With over 20 years of experience exhibiting Asian and Western art and design, it is one of the leading and most established contemporary art galleries to be launched out of China.

Nicholas Lusher

Owner of The Lusher Gallery LLC of New York and Bermuda, Nicholas recently had an Art Exhibit & Sale in Bermuda at a prominent Point Shares home, offering pre-1950 Paintings, watercolors, drawings and prints, and a collection of Vintage Posters too, all relating to Bermuda's Art History.

Anamaría Garzón Mantilla

Anamaría is full time professor at Universidad San Francisco de Quito, in Ecuador. And she also works as an independent curator. In 2013 she attended a Curatorial Intensive organized by Indepentent Curators International. She has curated three exhibitions with works by Francis Alÿs, Carlos Motta, Zanele Muholi, amongst others. Her most recent essay was published in LatinArt.com.

Justine McCullough

Justine recently published a feature about Daniel Arsham's new film series for the Tribeca Film Festival.

Laura Rankin

Since January 1st, 2015, Laura is managing sales for Gilbert Cellars winery. The primary focus of the position will be to share the story of her family, and world-class Washington wine with connoisseurs and wine enthusiasts across the United States and Canada.

Noël Ribes

Noël works as an antique dealer in Valencia, Spain, where he runs a gallery dealing with European works of art from the Middle Ages to the XXIst century. Astrid (Irène Lavinia Viola) Rosetti

Astrid’s background combines over three years of professional experience as an administrator and research assistant. With a broad range of experience that includes exposure to both sales and communication operations, she currently works as the assistant to the Senior Curator and the Art Project Manager in the Corporate Art Collection of Deutsche Bank.

Angela Solie

For 12 years, Angela has been an art dealer selling California Impressionism at William A. Karges Fine Art, Beverly Hills. Her client base is composed of the Hollywood elite, writers, actors and a few notable rock stars. She currently lives in West Hollywood with her two favorite stars, her husband and toddler son Jack. She welcomes new alumni to reach out if they need any coaching on how to get into high end art sales and how to avoid career pitfalls.

Aliki Tsirliagkou

Aliki is the founder and Director of Nitra Gallery in Thessaloniki, Greece, a contemporary art gallery focusing on the Meds & Balkan Region. As a curator, Aliki has worked on independent art projects and has collaborated with State Museums of Contemporary Art in Greece. Her latest large scale project was as part of the curatorial team of the 2014 Biennale of Photography, organized by the State Museum of Photography, Greece.

Dea Vanagan

Dea is a London-based freelance curator, commissioner, and writer. As Artwise Associate Director, she is co-curating with her colleagues the Official Azerbaijan Pavilion for the 56th Venice Biennale, and working with the Ikon Gallery, Birmingham on their 50th Anniversary endowment fund project. Recently she became Chair of the Macmillan De'Longhi Art Programme in support of the cancer charity.

Lisa Zeiger

17th & 18th Cent DAC, London, 1987
Lisa is a free-lance writer and art historian based in New York City. Her current project is ghost-writing for CJ Dellatore's book, Interior Design Master Class (Rizzoli 2016). She also writes for Apollo Magazine.
