WHEN: monday, janurary 23RD, 2017, 17:00pm
WHERE: SOTHEBY'S INSTITUTE OF ART - LONDON, 30 BEDFORD SQUARE, BLOOMSBURY, LONDON WC1B 3EE
Anthea Hamilton makes sculptures and installations that expand with wit and insight on the life of the body and the workings of fantasy. Regularly looking back to Modernist painting and making winking references to film and TV, she uses a rich array of materials, from fashion accessories to kitchenware and food, in the creation of works that comment on identity and desire in terms at once louche and affecting, playful and disturbing. She was one of four artists who were short-listed for the 2016 Turner Prize.
Anthea will be talking about her practice from 17:00 on Monday, January 23rd at Sotheby’s Institute of Art in London.
This event is free and open to the public; RSVP required. If you would like to come, please email Michelle Wynn at firstname.lastname@example.org.
