Overview

This six-week evening course highlights the art from the mid-20th century until the present day from South Asia by exploring artistic practices and works from India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Nepal and Bangladesh. Examining the impact of prevailing social, political and economic trends on both artists and art markets, the course will address the complex questions of national and cultural identity within a vibrant and diverse emerging market.

    Date: 26 September; 3, 10, 17, 31 October; 7 November 2017 (term break 24 October)
    Venue: the course will take place at Sotheby’s Institute of Art, 30 Bedford Square, London, WC1B 3EE.
