Overview

This course takes in the broad historical sweep of contemporary art - from the 1960s to the present day - to focus on common threads, themes, approaches and ideas shared among artists from all over the world. The focus is on interpreting works of contemporary art, with reference to art historical reference points, social and political contexts and theoretical approaches. Building up a toolkit for understanding contemporary art, this course enables participants to make sense of the wild array of approaches that encompass the art of our contemporary world.
