Overview

Commencing with the most celebrated works of the Renaissance and concluding with the transcendent power of the Baroque, this course provides an introduction to the fascinating history of art in Western Europe. Designed for those who would like to refresh their knowledge or to develop a background in art history, Institute-based lectures focus on key styles and figures between the early 15th and late 17th centuries. A complimentary visit to the National Gallery guided by Dr James Hicks is included in the course.

    Date: 26 September; 3, 10, 17, 31 October; 7 November 2017 (term break 24 October).
    Venue: The course will take place at Sotheby’s Institute of Art, 30 Bedford Square, London, WC1B 3EE.
