To apply for one of our academic programmes (Master's Degrees and Postgraduate Diplomas/Graduate Certificates/Semester Programmes), please use the form provided in the brochure or click here to download an application form. You may either e-mail this form back to us or send it to us by post. Enrolment is taken on a rolling basis throughout the year, but we do encourage you to apply at the earliest possible opportunity to ensure sufficient time for processing your application. Applications for Semester Programmes need to be sent prior to the start date of a particular programme.

Entry Requirements
All postgraduate programmes (Master’s Degrees and Postgraduate Diplomas/Graduate Certificates) require the completion of a BA degree or equivalent. For entry onto a Semester Programme, you do not need a degree.

For entry onto a postgraduate study programme (Master’s Degrees and Postgraduate Diplomas/Graduate Certificates) you will need a bachelor's degree with a major or minor in Art History. Exceptions to the undergraduate art history requirement can be made, based upon an applicant's experience in the visual arts or the relevance of other areas of study.

If you would like to discuss your qualifications, please feel free to contact with the Institute’s Registrar in London by e-mail at v.hill-perkins@sothebysinstitute.com or phone at +44 (0)20 7462 3201, before submitting an application.

Transcripts
Transcripts are required for entry onto one of our Master’s Degrees or Postgraduate Diplomas/Graduate Certificates. Transcripts are not required for entry onto one of our Semester Programmes. Please forward your official transcripts from all undergraduate and graduate-level programmes attended directly to the Institute's Registrar from your college or university.

English Language
If your first language is not English please send us documentation of appropriate English proficiency test scores. Unfortunately, we are not able to give you a full offer on a postgraduate programme until we have received your English Language test scores.

The minimum requirements for all postgraduate programmes are fluent written and spoken English to British Council IELTS level 7 or TOEFL 250 (computer-based test) or TOEFL 100 (internet-based test) or equivalent.

Interviews
All full-time applicants for postgraduate programmes and semester courses will be invited to schedule an interview with a member of the Institute's staff after receipt of all required application materials. Interviews will be scheduled by the Admissions Manager (please see below). You will be contacted at the appropriate time to make such arrangements. The interviewer will assess the candidate's aptitude for the programme, level of English skill and commitment to study.

Interviews are held in London throughout the year and can also be conducted by telephone. The Institute's Admissions Manager will contact you to arrange your interview.
