News Faces at the Institute

We are delighted to announce new appointments at the Institute in London and New York:

Emily Mancuso
Admissions Manager, London

Originally from Canada, Emily holds a BA in Fine Arts and is passionate about the art world. She was a founding member of the Montreal artists collective and has been a member of the Ffar Collective in Montreal. We are very much looking forward to strengthening our admissions team with Emily’s arrival. Until recently Emily was working at Cass Business School, City University, London where she managed their Open Day events, promoted their undergraduate programmes, and recruited students. Prior to this, Emily worked as a Graduate Recruiter at Goldman Sachs International in London from 2008 until April 2009.

Manuel Mindreau
European Recruitment Manager, London

Manuel was a student on MA Contemporary Art in London 2005/06. He joins us from Artnet.com where he worked as a Senior Sales Representative for Spain, Portugal and Latin America. Prior to that, Manuel was at the Carpenters Workshops Gallery in London as Gallery Manager. Originally from Peru, Manuel speaks a number of languages including Spanish (mother tongue), French and Italian, and was Head of the International Relations Office at the Universidad del Pacifico, in Lima, Peru from 1998 – 2005 before developing his interest in Art.

Joanna Berritt
Director of Professional Studies & Public Programs, New York

Joanna Berritt has spent the last 15 years in higher education for art, design and architecture organisations, in both the for profit and non-profit worlds. She grew up in England and obtained her Bachelors in Textile Design and Design Management from the University of Manchester before moving to the US in 1993. Originally working as a colour and design consultant for interiors, Joanna has more recently served as Assistant Department Chair at Parsons School of Design, President of the Rivertowns Arts Council, and Director of Development & New Business at The Institute of Classical Architecture.

Jeremy Polk
Programme Coordinator, American Fine and Decorative Art, New York

Jeremy Polk has spent the last ten years as an artist, educator, and administrator. He earned his BFA degree with a concentration in painting from Northeast Louisiana where he went on to become a public elementary and high school visual and theatre arts educator as well as the inaugural director of one of North Louisiana’s largest performance spaces. After earning his MS degree in Art and Design Education from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York, he worked as a faculty member and administrator for both Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York and Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore Maryland. Jeremy keeps up his studio practice as a visual artist and is a contributor to Gallery Crawl online.

Alissa Roeder
Assistant Director of Alumni and Enrollment Services, New York

Alissa comes to Sotheby’s Institute with eight years experience working in Higher Education for the Arts. After working in Admissions at Massachusetts College of Art in Boston, MA, she moved to New York to complete her MA degree in Visual Art Administration from New York University. During her graduate studies she worked at a New York based Exhibition Design firm as well as for a small New York Art Consultancy. She moved on to work as Assistant Director of Advising at Parsons School of Design in NY for three years and is now pleased to be at Sotheby’s Institute.

Lauren Mang
Assistant Director of Recruitment and Enrollment Services, New York

Lauren comes to Sotheby’s Institute as an alumna of the Institute. After graduating with her B.A. in Art History from Villanova University, Lauren worked as the Administrator in the Photographs Department at Christie’s in New York for several years, before moving onto her role as the Assistant to the Owner of the Howard Greenberg Gallery in midtown. Lauren then began her graduate education at Sotheby’s Institute in London, obtaining her Masters in Photography upon the completion of her dissertation focusing on photographer Saul Leiter. Upon graduating, Lauren secured a position as the Junior Cataloguer in the Photographs Department at Sotheby’s in New York. Lauren is currently enjoying her new role as Recruiter at the Institute, which allows her to fly across the US, speaking to college students about the opportunities available through the Institute.
