Summer Study in New York
Emerging Markets in the Global Art World
This course offers an overview of contemporary art from emerging markets such as China, Korea, India, the Middle East and elsewhere. By examining the work of relevant artists, visiting galleries that specialize in emerging markets, and speaking with specialists at auction houses and museums, this course examines the dynamic developments in regions that lie beyond what was once neatly defined as "the West." Background knowledge of modern and contemporary art is recommended.
