Sotheby’s Institute of Art – London is pleased to announce a new part-time option for the Master’s Degree programme in Art Business starting this September 2012.
Designed especially for postgraduate students who are already in full-time employment, the programme will enable career changers and professionals in related fields to complete the programme over two years. The degree would be particularly suited to those who are already pursuing a career related to the art world, and who are keen to develop their skills and further their knowledge in the field of art business.
Participants on the Part-Time MA Art Business will need to be flexible with their time and have two days available to study each week. The course modules currently comprise as follows for year:
Year 1, Semester 1
Mondays: Art Markets, 10am – 3pm
Tuesdays: Art Law, 10am – 3pm.
Year 1, Semester 2
Tuesdays: Management & Strategy, 10am – 3pm
Fridays: Ethics, 10am – 3pm
Year 2, Semester 1
Wednesdays: Research Methodologies, 10am - 3pm
Thursdays: Business Planning & Financial Analysis, 10am - 3pm
Fridays: Marketing, 10am - 3pm
Year 2, Semester 2
Mondays: Porterhouse Project, 10am - 3pm
Thursdays: Valuation and Investment, 10am - 3pm
Year 2, Semester 3
Dissertation (no fixed supervision times, but a date would be fixed for synopsis presentations at end of Semester 2)
Students are also encouraged to attend a lecture series every Wednesday lunchtime from 1pm – 2pm with participation by the rest of the Institute’s full-time students from all MA courses and Institute staff.
As a student on the part-time MA Art Business, you will need to have a good knowledge of art history and also be able to demonstrate that you are currently working and have been in full-time employment for at least three years.
